Field trip to Semiahmoo Library

This week we had a beautiful sunny day to explore our community. We walked to the Semiahmoo Library to explore a wonderful place in our community where we can enjoy books. Thank you to all of the parents who helped supervise our field trip!

The children listened to a felt story and used their knowledge of rhyming words to predict what was coming next.

All of the children were VERY excited about getting their own library cards.

Taking your child to the library is a wonderful way to foster a love of reading and excitement around books! 

Writing that made me smile

I recently shared with the class that I am expecting a baby in April. We have been working lots on writing stories. 

Today a student wrote this story.  It made my day! ❤️

Tumblebooks

Today we worked with our teacher librarian and explored a really great website Tumblebooks.com on the school iPads. 

This is a website that has many Ebooks for the children to read. There are story books, novels and nonfiction titles for them to choose and listen to. As the story is being read, the words light up so students can read and follow along. 

If you are interested in checking this website out with your child at home I will be sending home the username and password needed to access the site. Keep your eyes open for it in their planners!

Field Trip to Fire Hall 13

First I would like to thank my wonderful colleague Ms. Hrupp for taking such good care of our class this week! I was concerned the field trip would have to be canceled if I was not able to be there, so thank you so much Ms. Hrupp for taking our class to the fire hall! She told me the children had a BLAST and that it was a great opportunity for the kids.
