This week we have been busy learning all about apples!
We talked about what kinds of things we can make from apples. Here are a few items that I brought in for our classroom display
We dissected an apple, learned the proper vocabulary and labelled all of the parts. To get the kids excited about the week they each got to take home a home-made apple cookie!
The next day we had a taste taste. We tasted a Fuji apple, a Granny Smith apple and a Red Delicious apple. We graphed our favourite variety using post it notes and brainstormed words that described the apples we tasted. We later used those words to write our apple poems.

During centre time the kids explored using an apple as a stamp.
Today we talked about all the different ways we can make the number 10! We did a part-part-whole activity where students moved the seeds on the apple and recorded their number sentences. The kids couldn't believe all the combinations of 10!
We have had so much fun this week… the kids are in for one more day of apples tomorrow and a little surprise!
